This opportunity entails being responsible for providing toll site field support and resources during toll equipment installation, testing, and commissioning of projects. The Construction Rep applies construction engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assignments and assist the Resident Engineer in partnership with the project team. This position maintains project data, including drawings and specifications, coordinates testing and quality control inspections and prepares reports on vendor progress.
What You'll Do:
Performs office management engineer work when needed including but not limited to; prepares documentation for change orders, reviews change order scope of work, schedule and cost, processes and maintains tracking logs for RFIs, submittals, pay estimates, and other deliverables. Assists in constructability reviews.
Inspects, monitors, and oversees construction field work tasks and activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans and specifications. Reads, interprets, and confirms compliance with applicable contract documents.
Performs or oversees on-site material testing. Reviews plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities). Responsible for the tracking of item quantities and preparing pay estimates and ensures that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
Initiates field changes to drawings and specifications and identifies discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
Reviews contractor’s daily construction reports for accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency.
Responsible for maintaining as-constructed drawings and monitors contractors progress to analyze against progress schedule.
Consults with Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems, proactively recommends solutions, assists in the resolution of issues, and acts as a liaison with the engineer of record.
Remains current and knowledgeable of industry technology and tools used to perform inspection work through industry resources, training, and research. Gains exposure to new technology and utilizes it (GPS/Rovers) to increase efficiency and accuracy of inspection tasks.
Mentors and trains staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
Associates degree in relevant field and 6 years relevant experience, or
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field and 4 years relevant experience.
What You'll Bring:
Subject matter expertise in the installation, testing, and commissioning of roadside toll collection systems.
Provide field support for toll system implementation and maintenance.
Identify and resolve issues with oversight from the Toll Technology Project Manager.
Develop working relationships with agency staff, vendors, and stakeholders.
Operate relevant testing equipment as needed for the project.
Monitor vendor’s field progress and document performance.
What We Prefer:
8 years toll equipment installations with an understanding of system technologies including radio frequency identification (RFID), vehicle classification, license plate reading, video detection and video capturing.
Familiarity with FDOT’s requirements, policies, and procedures, and industry standards for toll systems.
Agency safety training certified preferred.
OSHA 30 certified preferred.
