HNTB Transportation Group Director in Denver, Colorado

What We're Looking For

Responsible for the administrative direction and supervision of a large multi-discipline professional or technical group. Responsible for the development and implementation of the group’s operating and marketing budgets, as well as goal setting, staffing, recruiting, project coordination and productivity necessary to provide high quality service within the group.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Responsible for direction and supervision of the development, monitoring, and management of the operating budgets for the departments within the Group and coordination with the office's budget.

  • Responsible for the oversight of the group (multiple departments) activities, establish priorities, and assign staff to projects. Collaborate with other groups, offices, and divisions on work-sharing needs and opportunities.

  • Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of departments staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession. Establish and maintain Draft Board. Support recruiting and retaining talent and assisting OL with office growth strategy.

  • Drives the implementation of the firm's strategic plan and SSA process on project pursuits and markets with the Group and office, including development of strategic planning strategies. Assists in marketing responsibilities, including client discovery, proposal generation, interviews, and win-to-work activities.

  • Drives the implementation of the firm's contracting (SCA) process through project delivery and contracting activities including scope, work plan and fee reviews for all contracting activities impacting the group.

  • Drives the implementation of the firm's project delivery (SDA) process including Work Planning, Monthly Project Reviews and other project performance methods to ensure quality work, on time, on schedule, to the client's satisfaction.

  • Assists in the development and execution of the office strategic plan. May participate of the Office Leadership Team (OLT ) supporting the Denver office leader with delivery and operations duties.

  • Responsible around the management, growth, and professional development of discipline-specific planning department and its activities.

  • Organizes and manages combined client service team meetings that include respective CSL’s for DEN, DOTI, CDOT and RTD.

  • May serve as client service leader for assigned client or market area establishing and maintaining strong client contacts to ensure client satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • 15 years related experience

  • RLA, RA, AICP or CEP certification

Compensation Range:

$170,129.00 - $271,764.00

  • Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of department staff within the group, including supporting Department Managers with the development of plans for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession planning.

  • * Project Delivery - Actively manages assigned project management activities (project scope, schedule, budget and quality management) and performs technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specifications, and plan preparation.

  • Typically responsible for up to 40 direct and indirect reports.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field

  • 12 years practical experience

  • 4 years supervisory experience
