HNTB New Grad Interior Design Professional I - Summer 2024 in Kansas City, Missouri

What We're Looking For

We are seeking talented May 2024 new grads for our Interior Design Professional I position as a part of our dynamic team in Kansas City, MO.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assists with architectural documentation and the development of 3D concepts.

  • Plans and conducts tasks requiring independent judgement in the analysis in design, planning, programming studies, design layouts.

  • Confers with other interior designers, architects, and engineers for the purpose of explaining and interpreting interior design standards, codes and regulations.

  • Assists in the preparation of project specification compiling and analyzing relevant data.

  • Prepares presentations and keeps others informed.

  • Assists with material and color selection.

  • Assists with furniture selection, layouts, and specification.

  • Works with diverse teams across the practice to support client needs.

  • Communicates clearly with team members and senior staff.

  • Participates in quality implementation plans, including scheduling for QC reviews and compiling comments in project documents.

  • Supports business development efforts under the supervision of team members.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

  • Associate’s degree in relevant field and 2 years of interior design or related experience, or

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or Interior Design

What You'll Bring:

  • Collaborate on current architectural projects

  • Assist with basic architectural documentation

  • Make recommendations to solve design problems

  • Develop models and designs using applicable software

  • Assist with finish selection, furniture specification.

What We Prefer:

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture preferred.

  • Outstanding ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

  • Knowledge of detailing, interior materials, construction techniques, related architecture/engineering principles, industry trends, technology, and building codes preferred.

  • Strong graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas, including a strong ability to sketch by hand in 2D/3D preferred.

  • Planning/preparing for NCIDQ or other relevant licensure

  • LEED accreditation is a plus.

Proficiency in software:

  • Conceptual Modeling: Conductive to workflow of Sketchup and/or Rhino, Grasshopper

  • Documentation: Revit, AutoCAD

  • Rendering: Enscape, Twin Motion, Lumion and/or V-Ray

  • Graphics: Adobe Suite

Possess good communication skills and display the following attributes:
