The Wisconsin Office has grown to 180 employees and with this growth comes more complex in and larger projects. This role represents an opportunity to ensure that HNTB’s sophisticated approaches are consistently being applied to the office’s largest and most complicated projects.
The role includes being responsible for managing assigned project(s) throughout their full lifecycle. Additionally, as an officewide resource, provide oversight and assistance to project management teams within the Wisconsin office relating to HNTB delivery best practices. The role also acts as an extension of the Office Operations and Delivery teams to assist in officewide performance tracking and goal adherence.
Typically manages multi-disciplinary project team(s) for one or more mini-mega ($1M to <$5M) projects or mega ($5M to < $25M) projects, or may lead or serve in a key discipline lead role on a super mega (> $25M) project management team.
Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development and retention of staff, including mentoring, and potential people management responsibilities.
Officewide operations and delivery responsibilities include project operations support and/or oversight on mini-mega, mega, and super mega projects relating to reporting metrics:
-Scope/schedule obligation thru EVM reporting with Change Management
-Budget
-Labor Projections (By Group)
-Revenue Labor Forecasting
-Project Review Meetings
-Win to Work and project sales bookings
-Work plan development and maintenance
-Project change management support
-Support and possibly participate in Office Management Team meetings.
-Collaborate and coordinate with Office Operations Manager, Office Business Integration Manager, Office Delivery Manager and Office Finance Manager to help achieve officewide metrics, goals and objectives.
-Grow and maintain a client relationships through networking activities leading to future sales and high performing project delivery.
-Client relationship planning, development and advancement
-Serve in leadership roles with industry organizations
-Leverage relationships into successful pursuits as Project Manager, Pursuit Champion Deputy Project Manager or, Task Leader
-Potentially serve/lead an office client service team
What You'll Do:
Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
Serves as the primary client liaison and manages the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client’s satisfaction. Leads client contract scoping and negotiations.
Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
Implements the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives.
Responsible for/oversees project staffing, including, but not limited to; recruitment, development, retention and succession of project staff; development of plan for project staff reporting; and support for performance and compensation reviews.
Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for mega and super mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads proposal development and interview presentations for strategic, mini-mega or mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community.
May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development and retention of staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 12 years of relevant experience
4 years of successful management of engineering projects
What You'll Bring:
Winning, contracting, and successfully delivering 4for4 (on-time, on-budget, quality, client satisfaction) on multi-disciplined or large/complex projects. Identifying and handling risk and change management independently.
Leading large teams inside and outside of HNTB using sub-consultants.
Using system tools to manage, monitor, and deliver complex projects.
Leading HNTB Sophisticated processes as applicable to the project.
Serving as the lead interface with the client.
Deploying talent to other projects and developing successors to work with same client on other work.
What We Prefer:
Master’s degree in Engineering
15 years relevant experience
Professional Engineer (PE) certification
American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification
Project Management Professional (PMP)
