Job Information

HNTB Traffic Project Engineer in South Portland, Maine

What We're Looking For

Project Engineer: Simply put, our ideal candidate is someone who can perform and lead tasks both independently and with collaboration from other disciplines. Typically this is someone who is been a Professional Engineer and in the industry for 8-10 years, currently acting as the discipline lead role on projects, ready to attend and contribute to client and public meetings.

We are looking for someone who is excited to learn, passionate for opportunities, and wants to see where their career can take them. At our Northern New England HNTB offices, we love what we do: From working on the most exciting projects, to being the leading engineering firm for many of our clients, every day will bring variety and opportunity.

On a day-to-day basis we perform both the traditional traffic work common with our local industry such as intersection signal design, maintenance of traffic evaluations and corridor planning studies, and we also offer unparalleled opportunities to grow beyond those fields. Our staff can also perform ITS Design, toll and toll technology design, travel demand modeling, large data analysis and so much more – with a focus on the big picture and right-sizing solutions for client needs. Days will generally be a mix of traffic data collection and analysis with report and plan preparation.

Locally our office culture is in a great place: We have a variety of in office activities like step challenges, cribbage and corn hole tournaments, game night, sea dogs games, harbor cruises and more. Our design staff sits on the exterior of our building, against the light drenched windows and the furniture in both offices has been recently upgraded. Family and outside activities are encouraged, recognizing that our work is just one aspect of life – from daycare pick-up schedules to preparing for running a marathon, we support your goals. The typical employee works in the field and office as needed for 8 hours between Monday and Friday.

We connect regionally – with our local regional office in the Empire State Building – and with our 80 offices nationwide. Future career growth opportunities are endless.

If this sounds like you, or you are excited by the work we perform but you don’t see quite the right opening for your experience, apply through the portal – most importantly we are looking for good team members at any level.
